On Friday, March 2, it was gathered that a betting shop manager, Henry Obi was reportedly been killed over a disagreement of N50 betting in the Aba branch satellite market near the Ehime Mbano council headquarters in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
In a statement released by the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Orlando Ikeokwu, said, “One Chidubem Mbamara walked into a betting shop, played his bet worth N600 but unfortunately wasn’t with enough money to pay.”
According to Ikeokwu, Mbamara was said to have paid only N150 deposited his phone to get the balance.
Ikeokwu continued, “But in return, he reportedly paid an additional N400, making it a total deposit of N550 while also promising to pay a balance of N50 on a later date.
Ikeokwu added, ” This led to a serious altercation between him and one Henry Obi (manager of the betting shop).
Ikeokwu also stated that “Sequel to the altercation, the said Chidubem Mbamara left, only to return some minutes later with a locally made pistol.
The Police Spokesperson noted that Chidubem Mbamara shot at Henry Obi, as a result, three persons were hit by the bullet, Henry Obi, Chibuike Iwunza, and Ebuka whose surname is unknown.
The Spokesperson also noted that the gunshots attracted a mob that pounced on Mbamara and beat him to death.
The Police Spokesperson also confirmed the death of Obi and Ebuka who died in the hospital on Saturday morning, while stating that Iwunza is in critical condition.
