Ministry Of Housing To Conduct Integrity Test On Any Building Projects In Delta

The Delta State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Godknows Angele said he will soon start to monitor and supervise every public and private building project that will be set up within the state.

Hon. Angele made this known while briefing journalists in Asaba, the state capital on Tuesday.

The commissioner said the Ministry under his watch would not tolerate any shoddy jobs that are not up to standard in the state.

He said the ministry will soon initiate an integrity test for monitoring and supervising the standard of buildings, saying that the ministry has over 30 Architects and Builders that will conduct tests on any building.

According to the Housing commissioner, he will canvass for the law of urban planning which consists of the local government and urban renewal to inculcate housing into it to enable its ministry to conduct an integrity test. Adding that he would not risk the lives of Deltans by accepting a situation where someone would erect a house with substandard materials and the house would collapse on citizens.

He said he intends to use the Ministry of Housing to contribute to the MORE Agenda saying “Today we are here to do more by building on what the immediate past administration has already done. As you know, the cost of doing more in mathematics is times two of the equation.”

“The state is expecting a lot of projects from housing next year, and before we will work with any developer, we will need to see their antecedents.

“Our target is to make it easy for civil servants to be able to build and own a house. And if we can achieve this, it is already a plus for His Excellency, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

“We intend to give out low-cost housing of two-bedroom to civil servants as their benefits from the retirement they ought to take while out of office.

“A lot of developers are in town and by the time these developers develop, we will control the price because we are the ones who will give them land and tell them in the MOU what we want because we want to provide ways on how we can subsidize the house to our people, as we are committed to do MORE for Deltans,” Hon. Angele said.
