Marymount College 92/93 Set Reunites in Agbor, Honours Teachers

Members of the Marymount College 1992/1993 academic set gathered in Agbor, Delta State, from December 26 to 28, 2025, for a three-day reunion themed “A Blast From the Past.” The event brought together former classmates from across Nigeria and the diaspora to reconnect, reflect on shared experiences, and strengthen bonds of sisterhood.

Activities commenced on Friday, December 26, with the collection of reunion sashes and T-shirts, followed by a meet-and-greet session at the Marymount College field. On Saturday, December 27, members participated in a morning walk from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., before proceeding to the main reunion celebration and award ceremony held at noon at the Marymount College School Hall.

In her address, the President of the Marymount College 92/93 Set, Mrs Buchi Ukperegbu (née Odiakaose), described the reunion as more than a social gathering, noting that it was a moment to honour shared memories, resilience, and the enduring values instilled by the institution. She reaffirmed the association’s commitment to accountability, transparency, inclusivity, and empowerment, stating that empowerment would be a major focus in the year ahead.

The Founder and Immediate Past President, Mrs Vivien Monye Maledo, recalled that the alumni group was formed in 2017 to reconnect old classmates and build a supportive sisterhood, expressing gratitude to members for sustaining the vision and keeping the bond alive.

Also speaking, the Chairperson of the Reunion Planning Committee, Mrs Judith Mowete Stephen, thanked members, teachers, awardees, and contributors for their support, noting that the reunion reaffirmed the strong Marymount spirit that continues to unite the set.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to outstanding teachers and contributors who played significant roles in shaping the lives of the alumnae. The awardees included Mrs Maria Loretta Opene (Music Teacher), Mr Ngwodo Amendall David (English Language), Ezinne Josephine Obiageli Esenwa-Mordi, Mrs Ojeogwu Comfort U., Mr Michael S. C. Utebor, Rev. Sr. Moriah N. Jacob (OLA), Principal of Marymount College, Mr Augustine Okafor (Austino), and Mrs Vivien Monye Maledo, Founder of the 92/93 Sets Alumni.

In addition, gifts were presented to past executive members in recognition of their service to the association. The past EXCOs honoured were Vivien Monye (IPP), Eunice Agweh, Uzoma Offor, Mercy Eborka, Eunice Ijeh, Ada Ijegbulem, and Ifeanyi Emenim.

As part of their contribution to the development of their alma mater, the 92/93 set also donated two lawn mower cutters and blowing machines to Marymount College to support the maintenance of the school environment.

The reunion activities concluded on Sunday, December 28, with a Thanksgiving Mass at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Agbor, where members expressed gratitude for life, unity, and the opportunity to reconnect.

The reunion ended with renewed commitments to unity, mutual support, and continued engagement among members of the Marymount College 92/93 set.
