Ashaka community laments over lean palliative from Gov. Okowa

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Egba-Oma Farms in Ashaka, Ndokwa East LGA, Delta State, Comrade Chukwudi Azaka, has pleaded with those in charge of distribution of palliatives not to divert the items designed for the poor.

He disclosed this on Thursday in a telephone chat with goldennationblog.com

Azaka who lamented over the poor distribution of palliatives meant to cushion the sit-at-home order urged relevant stakeholders to be transparent in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He explained that the palliative programme was community-based.

“Irrespective of tribe or religion, everyone that is representing his or her own group must know that ‘you are the eyes of your group’.

“If you compromise, posterity will judge you. You must stand for your people and make sure that they are served in these trying times.

“It is not food for the campaign and not for you to do charity for your family members.

“If you want to do charity, go to the market and buy your own materials for charity.

Recall that the Federal Capital Territory Administration as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari distributed palliative to the poor to cushion the effect of sit-at-home order melted by the ravaging coronavirus.

Azaka had on April 21, posted on Facebook, an unpleasant report that occurred in one of the communities where palliatives were meant to be distributed in Ndokwa East LGA.

The post reads: ” I saw this myself. This is not supposed to be palliative from the government for a household. It’s incorrect to call this palliative. Maybe linguists should help us with an appropriate name. My heart is broken”. Azaka said.
