The Economic and Financial Crime Commission has arrested popular socialite and businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, better known as Obi Cubana, for money laundering and tax fraud.
The socialite is currently being interrogated by the operatives of the commission after he arrived at the EFCC headquarters Jabi, in Abuja, at noon on Monday.
Although, the allegation against the club owner is still sketchy as of the time of filing this report a source disclosed that his case borders on alleged money laundering and tax fraud.
According to the source, he said, “Obi Cubana was arrested and brought to the EFCC headquarters on Monday afternoon over allegations of money laundering and tax fraud. He is being grilled by detectives as we speak.”
Meanwhile, the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said he has yet to be informed on the aftermath.
Recall in July, Obi Cubana made headlines when he hosted a flashy burial for his mother in Oba, Anambra State, in which over 200 cows were reportedly killed.
The lavish display of wealth set tongues swishing with many Nigerians wondering about his source of wealth.
Also, different celebrities, businesspeople, and politicians came out in large multitudes for his mother’s funeral.
