Labour Party files petition to challenge Aniocha South Council Polls at the Tribunal

The Labour Party has filed a petition with the Delta State Local Government Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba, demanding the cancellation of the local government elections in Aniocha South. The petition disputes the victory of Jude Chukwunweike from the PDP, who was declared the winner by DSIEC.

The Labour Party alleges that the election did not occur in several DSIEC wards in Aniocha South, preventing many voters from participating due to missing voting materials. They also claim that their agents did not sign the result sheets used by DSIEC, which they argue violates electoral laws.

The tribunal is now reviewing the petition and examining the Labour Party’s claims. The petition names the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC), Hon. Jude Chukwunweike, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as respondents.
