Joeboy, the Nigerian music star has launched Young Legend, his record label dedicated to giving a platform to the next generation of stars after exiting emPawa Africa, a record label owned by Mr Eazi.
The Young Legend partners with Warner Music, the US-owned global music company to help distribute the music of artists on its roster.
Announcing the new record label, Joeboy took to his social media page to share a documentary of himself which he captioned as the “dawn of a new era”, Likewise, Warner Music also announced Joeboy’s arrival in an Instagram post it shared on its page.
Also, in a blog post, Warner Music stated that the bond between the company Music and Young Legend will be cemented over the coming weeks with a series of music camps to be held in Lagos, London and Los Angeles. Stating that the aim is to start releasing new music from the Young Legend roster within the next few months.
“Joeboy will act as the CEO of Young Legend, working with Deola Jaiyesimi, who is the Head of the Label, and Teniola Akanni, who is the Head of Legal, Warner Music stated in the blog post.
Recall, that Warner Music has been continuously more active in Western Africa, working closely with independent Nigerian label Chocolate City; acquiring leading pan-African music company Africori; and benefiting international successfully with Nigerian artists such as Burna Boy and Ckay.
Joeboy born, Joseph Akinwale become a household name in the music industry since he laid the foundations of his career in 2017, when he was signed to the emPawa Africa record label.
His songs have generated millions of views while his albums, “Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic” and “Body & Soul” have also received critical praise globally.
In 2019, he won the ‘Best Artiste in African Pop’ prize at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA). While In the singer also ripped the ‘Best Pop’ category at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival.
