Jeremiah Fufeyin to Critics: Stop Twisting My Sermons!

Effurun, Delta State – The Founder and General Overseer of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministries International, Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, has responded strongly to recent criticisms, stating clearly that he has never encouraged fraudsters or any form of criminality in any of his messages.

Speaking from the church headquarters in Effurun, near Warri, Delta State, the renowned preacher, popularly known as Papa J, addressed a controversial video circulating on social media which critics have used to attack his teachings. He described the circulating clip as “manipulated and misleading,” and accused a “wicked and malicious blogger” of taking his sermon out of context to defame his ministry.

According to Prophet Fufeyin, the message in question was originally preached on January 30, 2022, and was titled “First Fruits.” In that sermon, he encouraged believers to offer their first fruits to God as a form of sacrifice, referencing biblical figures such as Hannah, Esau, and Jacob to explain the spiritual significance of such offerings.

“I never at any point in my message encouraged crime or fraud,” the Prophet stated. “My words were clear—give your first fruits from a clean heart. Those who do this, just like Hannah in the Bible, will experience God’s blessings. I was preaching sacrifice and obedience, not sin or criminal behavior.”

He explained that Hannah’s offering of her first fruit led to a divine reward, while Esau lost his place due to neglecting the importance of first fruits, in contrast to Jacob, who honored the principle and received a blessing.

Fufeyin emphasized that first fruits, when given sincerely, symbolize the wiping away of sins and the establishment of a renewed covenant with God.

Addressing the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Prophet Fufeyin criticized some of its officials for speaking hastily without seeking proper understanding. He specifically mentioned CAN’s National Director of National Issues and Social Welfare, Abimbola Ayuba, and the Lagos State Chapter Chairman, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, urging them to show greater decorum and godly conduct before making public statements.

“Those speaking under the CAN umbrella should conduct themselves as true men of God. Instead of rushing to criticize, they should have listened carefully to the full sermon before drawing conclusions,” he said.

Prophet Fufeyin also called on the public to disregard the manipulated content circulating online and instead rely on the official social media pages of the church for accurate and full-length messages.

“All my messages are online and available to everyone. There’s no need to twist my words to suit an agenda,” he added.

The Billionaire Prophet reiterated his commitment to preaching holiness, sacrifice, and the love of Christ, warning that those trying to smear the church would be held accountable spiritually and possibly legally.
