The prominent sons and daughters of Issele-Uku residing in the United States of America and Canada, have decided on a date to hold a virtual launching of the N40m rehabilitation and remodeling of St. Theresa’s Hospital in Issele-uku, Delta State.
The event scheduled to hold virtually on February 28, 2021, at noon in the United States while other cities and counties would zoom in according to their different time zones – Pacific Zone: 12 noon – 2 pm, Eastern Zone: 3 pm – 6 pm, GMT: 8 pm – 10 pm, Nigeria Time: 9 pm – 12 midnight.
Dr. Augustine Nwabuaze, the Convener of the Fundraising Committee, in a statement disclosed this in the US.
According to the statement, the launching will be done in segments both in the UK and Nigeria at a later date and time after the US version.
In the statement, the Obi of Issele-Uku, HRM Agbogidi Obi Nduka MNSE will be the Royal Father of the Day for the US segment wherein the Bishop of Issele-Uku Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Odogwu Elue, to be represented by Msgr. John Ike Aduba as the spiritual Father of the Day.
In the statement, Dr. Nwabuaze spoke about how terrible the hospital had become after its 65 years of existence, urging Issele-you sons and daughters as well as their neighbors to reciprocate the gesture of contributing towards the rehabilitation and remodeling of the hospital.
Dr. Nwabuaze, in the statement also recall why the hospital was built, he said the hospital was specifically built to serve the health needs of the Issele-uku community and its neighbors.

He said, the hospital has served Issele-uku and her neighbors monumentally, stating at this time, all hands must be on deck to give back to the community by giving a desired financial attention to the hospital project.
Dr. Nwabuaze, in the statement, also affirm about the history of the hospital. According to him, the hospital is first known as St. Theresa’s Maternity Issele-Uku, founded in 1957 by the Catholic sisters thereafter, it was later taken over by the Catholic Church, and the name change to St. Theresa’s Hospital, Issele-Uku in 1982.
He went further to say, when completed, “The facilities will serve to reduce women’s pregnancy and infants related deaths, post-partum hemorrhage deaths, noting that, it will also increase the survival rate of both newborns and infants.
