Nigerian singer May D recently shared stories about his time living with Psquare, the famous music duo, and an encounter with superstar Davido.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, May D explained that while working with Psquare, he lived in the boys’ quarters of their home. This arrangement made him feel undervalued, leading him to reject their offer to sign with Square Records.
May D said he believed he deserved better living conditions, like a room or flat in the main house, especially since he was contributing to their music projects. “It’s not about having a house,” he said. “It’s about feeling appreciated and supported.”
He also talked about a time when Davido, who was hiding from his father, needed a place to stay. Davido planned to stay with May D but changed his mind after seeing the boys’ quarters.
“When Davido saw my room, he was shocked. He said, ‘This is where you stay? I can’t stay here.’ If I had a better room, it might have been different,” May D said.
The singer used the experience to reflect on how artists should treat others they work with, emphasizing the importance of respect and support.
