How Delta State become state with highest universities

On Friday, March, 25, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, approved the three new universities established by the Delta State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

The approval came after the Delta State governor leads top government officials to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja to present strategic documents of the universities.

The approval of the three universities to the already existing one has made Delta State have four universities to its credit, making Delta, a state with the highest number of universities in the country.

The state also has two federal universities, namely, Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, and the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun which also, double the number of universities in the state to six.

However, the approved universities are the Delta State University, Agbor, Dennis Osadebe University, Asaba, and the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro are to commence the full academic session.
