Hon. Angeles Named ‘Commissioner of the Year’ as Integrity Group Endorses Governor Oborevwori’s Second Term

Infrastructure, Healthcare, Housing: Delta’s MORE Agenda in Action

The Integrity Group Leadership Summit, themed “The MORE Agenda: A Way of Life,” held in Delta State, was a momentous event that brought together key stakeholders and dignitaries to reflect on the progress of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration and its transformative impact on Delta State.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Oke Idawene, the convener, and a respected figure and visionary, expressed immense joy and fulfillment at witnessing the realization of a dream he had nurtured since his days at the University of Ilorin. He described the MORE Agenda as a divine project that has brought unparalleled infrastructural development and social reforms to Delta State.

“We are here today to celebrate a visionary leader, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who has transformed Delta State into a beacon of hope and development,” Dr. Idawene said. “The MORE Agenda is not just a governance model; it is a culture—a way of life.”

Dr. Idawene praised the governor’s leadership and commitment to the people of Delta State. He encouraged everyone to embrace the MORE Agenda, which he defined as: More Meaningful Development, More Opportunities for All, More Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, represented by Comrade Reuben Izeze, the Commissioner for Works (Highways & Urban Roads), reiterated the administration’s dedication to delivering on its promises under the MORE Agenda.

“We have constructed 513 roads across the 25 local government areas in Delta State, ensuring equitable development across all senatorial districts,” Comrade Izeze said. “Additionally, our health insurance scheme provides free healthcare for pregnant women and elderly citizens aged 65 and above in government hospitals and healthcare centers.”

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda S. Olufemi, represented by SP Edafe Bright, emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining security. He highlighted the police force’s commitment to addressing issues such as cultism, drug abuse, internet fraud, and armed robbery.

“Security is everyone’s business,” SP Bright stated. “The earlier we understand this, the better we can work together to ensure a safe Delta State.”

A highlight of the event was the recognition of Hon. Godknows Angeles, Commissioner for Housing, as the ‘Commissioner of the Year.’ In his acceptance speech, Hon. Angeles dedicated the award to Governor Oborevwori and his colleagues, pledging continued efforts to implement housing reforms.

He announced plans to regulate housing agents and provide affordable housing for civil servants and students. “By next year, we will eradicate unregulated housing agents and developers and also focus on meaningful development, including pilot housing schemes and hostels for students,” Hon. Angeles said.

The summit concluded with the Integrity Group endorsing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term, lauding his achievements under the MORE Agenda.

“This administration has proven its commitment to the people of Delta State,” Dr. Idawene declared. “Let us unite as MORE Agenda Ambassadors, spreading its values and ensuring the continued progress of our state.”

The event served as a platform to celebrate the successes of the current administration and reaffirm the collective commitment to sustaining development and unity in Delta State.
