The Member Representing Oshimili North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Ngozichukwuka Esenwah, has expressed his commitment to transforming Oshimili North into a prosperous and vibrant region.
Speaking recently, he described the local government area (LGA) as one of the best in Delta State, known for its rich culture, natural beauty, and thriving economic activities such as agriculture, fishing, and trading.
Achievements in Oshimili North
Since assuming office, Hon. Esenwah has spearheaded numerous development projects across Oshimili North. These include infrastructure improvements, agricultural empowerment, youth training, and enhanced security. The once quiet community is now experiencing significant growth, with Okpanam transforming into a bustling city and nightlife returning to Ibusa. Farming communities like Atuma-Iga and Ugbolu have received support to boost agricultural productivity.
Hon. Esenwah emphasized the importance of following due process and learning from past experiences. He said, “Leadership is not a tea party. It requires dedication, tolerance, and a genuine desire to serve the people.”
Empowering the People
Under his leadership, Oshimili North has witnessed the successful implementation of various empowerment programs. Over four phases of employment initiatives have been carried out, including the distribution of yam tubers, coconut seedlings, and other crops to farmers. These efforts are designed to promote self-sufficiency and generate income. Hon. Esenwah noted that a single coconut plantation could produce up to 10,000 coconuts, significantly boosting the local economy.
Additionally, over 500 youths have been trained in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), with participants receiving laptops to enhance their skills and establish careers in the digital space. Other sectors such as education, health, tourism, and business have also benefited from ongoing training programs aimed at creating self-employment opportunities.
Infrastructure Development
The lawmaker highlighted the construction of key infrastructure projects in Oshimili North. Internal roads in Ibusa are under construction, with 2 kilometres already completed near Admiralty University. The Ukala Kingdom, which borders Aniocha North, now enjoys a 3.03-kilometer solar-lit road connecting Ugbolu to Ukala.
In terms of safety, Hon. Esenwah has prioritized community policing, empowering local security personnel to maintain peace. “We now have constant security checks, especially in the Ugbolu Mile 5 area, which has become a safe haven for residents and property buyers,” he said.
Tourism and Lifestyle
Oshimili North is not just about development; it is also a hub for tourism and culture. The LGA is home to numerous attractions, including the Delta State Leisure Park, Illah Waterfall, Anam Beach, and Vin Milan Hotel. These destinations offer opportunities for relaxation, adventure, and cultural exploration. The local markets, such as the vibrant Ugbolu Market, attract visitors from across Delta State and beyond.
Hon. Esenwah described the lifestyle in Oshimili North as a mix of traditional and modern, with a strong sense of community and hospitality. “The people are warm and welcoming, and there is always something to do—from hiking and fishing to attending cultural festivals,” he said.
Message to the Youth
Addressing the youth, Hon. Esenwah urged them to remain patient and prepared for opportunities. “We know things are hard, but we are working to make life better. However, youths must be ready to prove themselves and take on responsibilities,” he said. He emphasized the need for hard work and discouraged reliance on shortcuts like internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo.”
A Vision for the Future
In less than two years, Hon. Esenwah has achieved significant milestones, from infrastructure and economic empowerment to cultural promotion and community development. He envisions a future where Oshimili North becomes a model for growth and prosperity in Delta State. “The foundation has been laid, and we will continue to build on it for the benefit of all,” he concluded.
With his dedication and results-driven approach, Hon. Frank Esenwah is proving that effective leadership can bring about real transformation.
