On Saturday evening, a fire broke out on the Lagos Blue Line rail track, causing concern among residents. The incident took place at around 4:12 pm near a section opposite the NEPA Station, close to Eko Bridge, heading towards the Apogbon area of Lagos State.
Fortunately, there were no train services operating at the time of the incident, and no casualties have been reported. The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) confirmed the incident in a statement, assuring the public that the situation was swiftly brought under control.
According to LAMATA, a team of safety and emergency personnel, along with other first responders, arrived at the scene and managed to extinguish the fire. The transport authority advised residents in the area to carry on with their daily activities, as there was no longer any threat to safety.
“Fire incident on Lagos Blue Line. There was a fire outbreak on a small section of the Lagos Blue Line track at a spot opposite NEPA Station by Eko Bridge inward Apogbon,” LAMATA stated. “The incident occurred at 4:12 pm. No casualty was reported, and there was no train service at the time of the incident. A team of safety and emergency personnel and other first responders had completely put out the fire.”

The prompt response and efficient handling by emergency teams ensured that the situation was contained without disruption to the area.
