Fela Anikulapo Kuti got nominated for 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

The nominees for the 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, had on its lists Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the Afrobeat originator.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame which announces 16 nominees for its 2021 class of inductees, has offers some satisfaction for fans who have long lobbied to see their favorite artists get on the ballot.

According to a statement, by the chairman of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, John Sykes said, “This remarkable ballot reflects the diversity and depth of the artists and music the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates. These Nominees have left an indelible impact on the sonic landscape of the world and influenced countless artists that have followed them.”

At of the 16 nominees inducted on the list is Afrobeat originator Fela Anikulapo Kuti who has been eligible for some time and finally being recognized for the honor.

Fela Kuti released his first recording in 1970 isn’t originally classified as a “rock n roll singer” and so there had been insignificant complaints concerning his exclusion until recently.

Jay Z and Foo Fighters also make it to the list for the first time as they both release debut albums in 1995, landing them in the eligibility zone that requires nominees have a catalog dating back at least 25 years. Other nominees who made their appearance on the ballot despite being previously eligible to include Dionne Warwick, in addition to Iron Maiden and the Go-Go’s.

Others who returned to contention after having been previously nominated: Mary J Blige, Late Bush, Devo, Chaka Khan, Carole King, LL Cool J, Rage Against the Machine, Todd Rundgren, and Tina Turner.

Meanwhile, the class of inductees in 2020 has been resolve to a taped HBO special. While the Hall for 2021 is optimistic about the coronavirus situation to enable the success of a live induction ceremony that is been set for the Fall.
