FAAC Retreat In Asaba, A Big Feat For Sheriff Oborevwori – Delta Finance Commissioner Tilije Says

The Delta State Commissioner for Finance, Fidelis Tilije, said the Federal Account Allocation Committee Retreat that is ongoing in Asaba, the state capital is one major accomplishment of His Excellency, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration as it has attracted a lot of benefits to the state.

The finance commissioner stated this while speaking with journalists during the ongoing retreat at Dome Event Center in Asaba, saying that the event is scheduled to run from November 20th to November 23rd, 2023.

According to him, he is extremely overwhelmed that the retreat is taking place in Asaba as it is a very big feat for the governor who was able to attract such a remarkable event to the state.

Tilije said the thirty-six state Commissioners for Finance and their Accountant General, as well as the Minister of Finance and all the committees that made up the FAAC were all present on the occasion.

He said the body organizing the retreat is the only body with constitutional provisions to do equity in the allocation of all revenue that is collected by the federal, state, and local governments.

He added that the retreat is very critical for the economy of the state and extremely important as it is trying to redress some wrongful inequitable distribution of resources that have occurred over some time.

According to the finance commissioner “Me particularly, I can’t stop thanking Sheriff Oborevwori for allowing us to host this retreat here in Asaba. For some things he does, the economy of Asaba increased just yesterday and that increase will be effective till Friday. I know that generally, all the hotels have been lodged, and all restaurant patronage would have been doubled or tripled.

“I am very happy for what is happening here today. One other thing about the retreat is that it draws the Delta State Government and the people of Delta to the center. Whether the issue of Delta State is a PDP state and the National government of the country over us is an APC can be seen that we can do better if we collaborate.”

“I’m so proud that all the 36 States Commissioners are here present and all the Accountant General including the federal capital territory, Abuja. It is also important to point out that here in Delta, there is extreme peace and harmony. And therefore, when they go back to their respective states they will understand there is peace in the state. I believe they will begin to make those broadcast to their state, and nationally across the globe so that foreign investment can begin to trip into the state because the benefit of this retreat in Asaba cannot be overemphasized”, Tilije stated.
