In Lusaka’s Mandevu area, a 15-year marriage came to an end as accusations of infidelity and theft led to a heated divorce case. The case involved 39-year-old Pastor Listowe Musonda and his wife, 33-year-old Silvia Mbao, both accusing each other of betrayal.
Pastor Musonda told the court that Silvia had been unfaithful for years, dating multiple men, including their family’s milk supplier. He claimed that Silvia even stole money from him to support her boyfriends and often denied him marital rights. Despite past attempts to fix their issues, Musonda said the situation worsened, and he decided to seek a divorce.
In her defense, Silvia admitted to taking money but clarified that it came from church offerings, not her husband’s pocket. She accused Musonda of being jealous and claimed he was secretly married to another woman, a police officer. Silvia also said Musonda had isolated her from his family, calling him “wicked.”
After hearing both sides, Magistrate Lewis Mumba granted the divorce. He ordered Musonda to pay Silvia K10,000 as compensation and granted her custody of their children. Musonda was directed to provide monthly child support, while the couple was instructed to share their household items equally.
This dramatic case highlights the emotional and financial strain that led to the breakdown of their marriage.
