A 30-year-old woman was rescued from the chaos of a collapsed three-story building in Ebute-Metta on Friday afternoon.
The building located directly opposite the Ebute Metta Comprehensive Health Centre on Abeokuta Street, collapsed around 1 pm.
The incident occurred barely two weeks after a three-story building collapsed on a Bungalow at Freeman Street, Lagos Island, killing a policewoman and two children.
Although no life was lost in Friday’s incident, residents believe that was because the building gave way in the afternoon when occupants had gone out.
Rescuers also dismissed speculations that people died in the collapse, insisting that so far, only the rescued woman seemed to have been on the premises.
According to the Director-General (DG) Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the rescued woman has been evacuated to the hospital for treatment.
He said the agency received the distress call around 1:10 pm and raced to the scene immediately.
Oke-Osanyintolu said the cause of the building collapse was yet to be determined, adding that the scene had been cordoned off to prevent secondary disaster.
He said buildings adjacent to the collapsed structure were being examined for possible damages by the material testing agency.
