Delta to continue Teleclass learning Programme for schools

The Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has disclosed that the free teleclass learning programme on radio and television will continue to run till the resumption of schools in the state.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah, in Asaba, Friday.

Chief Ukah noted that the teleclass learning programme is for the benefit of the students.

He said: ” After due consultation with stakeholders, the ministry wishes to encourage interested students to learn on the alternative online and media channels that may be provided by private institutions of learning”

The commissioner also explained that following the completion of the first phase of the programme on Thursday, there will be a repetition of previous topics till May 6, 2020.

He also said at the beginning of the second phase, new topics will be introduced.

Ukah, therefore, warned private school owners in the state to set up plans to start online classes for the 3rd term academic session.

Speaking further, Ukah stated that the academic calendar for the 2nd term academic session has not been concluded, stressing that in the calendar, there is no difference between the public and private schools.

He, therefore, warned that any private school that goes contrary to the approved academic calendar in the state will face severe sanctions from the state government.

Concluding, chief Ukah said, “once schools are reopened for academic activities, the ministry will release a revised academic calendar for the 2019/2020 academic year”.
