Delta PDP Leaders Under Fire for Bad Road Projects

ABRAKA, DELTA STATE — A serious problem is making many people in Delta State very upset. Two leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Kingsley Esiso, a former state chairman of the party, and Mr Jerry Ehiwario, the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, have been accused of allowing very poor construction work on important roads.

A popular social media commentator named Michael Imonioro made these claims in a post that has now gone viral on Facebook. He said that the roads and public projects managed by these politicians are so bad that they are putting people’s lives in danger.

In his post, titled “Delta PDP Stakeholders Embark on Substandard Projects at the Expense of Deltans,” Imonioro blamed bad roads for the many car accidents and deaths happening in the state. He said these problems are not caused by witches or bad luck, but by leaders who are not doing their jobs well.

“In Nigeria, road accidents are mostly because of bad roads, not witchcraft,” Imonioro wrote. “In Delta, it’s worse. Our leaders are the ones building these dangerous roads.”

What Are People Complaining About?

The most talked-about project is the Abraka-Eku road in Ethiope East Local Government Area. It’s being fixed by a company called Oruese International Nigeria Enterprises, which is reportedly linked to Mr. Esiso. But people say the road is still in terrible condition, even after work began.

“It’s embarrassing that with all the oil money Delta State has, this is the kind of road we get,” Imonioro added.

Another problem was reported in Ika South Local Government Area, where a road built under Chairman Jerry Ehiwario began breaking down just six months after it was finished.

Imonioro said this is making life harder for many people. Cars break down often, and people spend lots of money fixing them. This, he said, is causing stress, sadness, and even depression for some families.

“When a man who is already struggling sees himself at the mechanic every day, it can break him emotionally,” he wrote.

What Else Did Imonioro Say?

He also said that politicians treat public projects like gifts, instead of things they are supposed to do as leaders. He warned that the bad work done by Esiso and Ehiwario could also hurt the current Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, making people lose faith in his government.

“In no distant time, Deltans will go to the polls to vote out PDP and their bad actions,” Imonioro warned.

What Do the Accused Say?

When asked about the accusations, Kingsley Esiso, who is also known by the nickname “Oruese,” said:

“As far as I’m concerned, the project has not been abandoned.”

Mr. Jerry Ehiwario, the Ika South Chairman, has not replied to messages sent to him asking for his side of the story.

Why This Matters

Delta State is rich in oil and other resources, but many residents are unhappy because they still don’t have good roads, health care, or schools. Many people believe that if leaders don’t do better, more people will leave the PDP and vote for other parties like the APC.

This case shows how people are becoming more willing to speak out and demand better from those in power. As the next election comes closer, voters may use their power to bring change.
