Delta Ministry of Works Proposes N150 Billion Capital Project for 2024 Budget

The Delta State Commissioner for Rural and Urban Roads, Mr. Charles Aniagwu said the executive governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has given the ministry a mandate to complete all the ongoing projects in the state.

Mr. Aniagwu made this known while interacting with Journalists after defending the ministry’s 2024 budget, alongside his colleagues, the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Hon. Izeze Rume Yakubu Reuben, and Commissioner for Special Projects, Barr. Funyei Manager, and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr. Fred Edafioghor at the Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

He said the unique part of the ministry’s 2024 budget is that it will enable development to get to the 25 Local Government Areas in the state, as the ministry is ensuring that all projects are also done in line with the specification that was spelled out in the bill of engineering measurement.

According to him, Deltans should expect a whole lot of projects and delivery from the N150 (one hundred and fifty) billion naira capital projects as proposed in the 2024 budget of the Ministry, adding that the governor has promised to do more and the ministry has also ensured that the budget put together will make provisions to address issues of those promises made by the governor.

He added that other high-profile projects will likewise be carried out via ISPO as some of these projects will last more than one budget circle.

He also said the Governor has given a marching order to ensure that the ministry concentrates on the completion of the ongoing projects in the state.

Mr. Aniagwu applauded the House Committee members for being able to assist them in looking into the different subheads that they have made provision for in the 2024 budget.

He said “We are here to answer our employers who are the representatives of the people to ensure the budgeting will affect the issue of development in their various communities and also addresses the welfare needs of their constituents.

“You know, the essence of the defense is about transparency and good governance. It is one of the relationships between the Executive and the Legislature,” Aniagwu added.
