Delta Govt to Digitalise Physical Planning Processes in 2026 — Commissioner Anoka

Asaba, November 10, 2026 — The Delta State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Engr. Ifeanyi Anoka, on Tuesday presented his ministry’s proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year before the Ministry of Economic Planning at the State Secretariat, Asaba.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the budget defence session, Engr. Anoka described the performance of the ministry in 2025 as a success, despite economic challenges affecting project execution across the country.

He stated that the ministry’s priority for the 2026 fiscal year is to digitalise its internal and public service processes, especially in the area of development approvals.

“2025 turned out to be a huge success for us, and in 2026 we are focused on achieving more,” he said. “Our major emphasis now is on digitalisation of the ministry, particularly the approval process for developments and other physical planning requests.”

The Commissioner acknowledged that inflationary pressures had posed challenges to the implementation of projects in 2025, but noted that the ministry still performed creditably well.

“You know, because of inflation in the country, implementation has been difficult. But given the realities, we have done relatively well,” he explained.

Engr. Anoka also highlighted that the ministry has expanded its scope following restructuring and renaming, which now comes with greater responsibilities in urban planning and renewal across the state.

“With the renaming and restructuring, the ministry is now much bigger and saddled with more responsibilities,” he noted. “This means we must improve efficiency and revenue generation while ensuring professionalism and proper monitoring of urban development.”

He expressed optimism that the 2026 fiscal year would see stronger service delivery and better development control outcomes across Delta State.

“We are positive about what 2026 holds. The digitalisation effort will make the ministry faster, more transparent, and more accessible to the public,” Anoka said.

The proposed budget will proceed through further review stages before being included in the final draft to be submitted to the Delta State House of Assembly for approval.
