Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has received the report of the committee set up to investigate certificate racketeering and the suspension of staff at Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku.
The report was formally presented on Wednesday in Asaba. Onyeme thanked the committee for what he described as “detailed work” and assured that the state government would act on its recommendations.
“Your report is very clear and straightforward, especially as it concerns the allegations of certificate racketeering,” the deputy governor said. “We will prepare an executive summary to present to His Excellency, the Governor, for further action based on your recommendations.”
The investigative committee, inaugurated on March 25, 2025, was led by Sir Christopher Osakwe. In his presentation, Osakwe said the panel examined three major issues: the certificate racketeering allegations, the process that led to the suspension of some polytechnic staff, and recommendations to safeguard the institution’s integrity.
He explained that the committee’s work also included advice on possible disciplinary measures to ensure accountability and prevent a repeat of such practices.
The event was attended by senior government officials, including the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Tonukari Johnbull, who witnessed the report presentation.
