The Delta State Government has said its monthly environmental sanitation exercise for the month of July, will hold in the state Saturday, July 25, 2020, between 7.00 am and 10.00 am.
This is contained in a statement signed by the State Director of Information, Mr. Dona Obuseh, and made available to journalists.
Obuseh stated that during the period of the exercise, there would be no restrictions on the movement of persons and vehicles.
In the statement, the State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Chris Onogba, advised Deltans to fumigate their premises, cut overgrown weeds, clear their drainages, and keep their environment clean to prevent unwanted diseases.
According to the statement, officials of the State Waste Management Board and local government councils would evacuate the resultant refuse to approved government dump sites, and that Delta State Taskforce on Environment would be on the ground to monitor and ensure total compliance of the exercise.
Deltans and residents in the state were advised to in this period of the COVID-19 pandemic, observe washing of hand regularly for at least 20 seconds with running water and soap, sanitizing as much as possible, and observe physical distancing as part of measures to stop the spread of the virus.
