Asaba, Delta State — November 12, 2025: The Delta State Commissioner for Girl Child Entrepreneurship and Humanitarian Support Services, Orode Uduagha, presented her ministry’s 2026 proposed budget before the Ministry of Economic Planning in Asaba.
Speaking with journalists after the budget defence, Uduagha said the ministry’s focus for 2026 will be on empowerment programs, education, and grassroots humanitarian support aimed at improving the lives of girls and vulnerable groups across the state.
“We are continuing in our mission to uplift the vulnerable, support the girl child, and empower our people,” she said. “One of the most significant initiatives we are introducing next year is the World Bank–funded AGILE program for girl-child education.”
Uduagha explained that Delta State recently joined the AGILE (Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment) program, which will provide direct support to secondary school girls across the state.
“The AGILE project will help boost the education system across Delta State. It will uplift children in secondary schools once it is launched in the first quarter of 2026,” she noted.
Reflecting on the ministry’s performance in 2025, Uduagha described it as successful, noting that her team has improved on previous achievements through expanded outreach and better program implementation.
“We built on what we achieved last year. We didn’t slow down; instead, we improved and did even better this year,” she said.
The Commissioner emphasised that the ministry remains committed to reaching rural and riverine communities where the needs of women and girls are often greatest.
“Our ministry goes beyond the urban areas. We visit villages and rural communities to make sure that girls and vulnerable individuals benefit from the dividends of democracy,” she added.
Uduagha reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to deepen its humanitarian impact in 2026, ensuring that empowerment initiatives reach those who need them most.
