The Diocese of Asaba Agape Foundation (DAAF) on Saturday, December 20, 2025, hosted a Christmas Charity event for children and less privileged persons in Asaba, Delta State, with the Bishop of Asaba, Rt. Rev’d Kingsley C. Obuh, serving as the Chief Host.
The charity programme, which took place at the A.G.G.S Compound, Asaba, was organised to mark the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and to extend love, care, and support to vulnerable members of society, especially children.
The event featured a display and auction of items, as well as a funfair that included Santa Claus (Father Christmas), a bouncing castle, Mickey Mouse mascots, Christmas carols, praises, and other exciting activities that created a joyful atmosphere for the children.

Speaking at the event on behalf of the Bishop, the Venerable Herbert Umeh explained that the Diocese of Asaba Agape Foundation was established by Rt. Rev’d Kingsley C. Obuh as a platform to coordinate the church’s outreach to the less privileged.
“Representing the Bishop in this gathering, DAAF has organised a party for children, and this is the first of its kind in the diocese,” Umeh said.
“The foundation brings together the Prison Ministry, the elderly group, and other outreach groups in the church, whose primary aim is to help the less privileged within the diocese.”
According to him, the Christmas charity was designed to reach out to children and vulnerable persons as part of activities marking the birth of Christ.

“Today, DAAF organised this party for children to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Christ our Saviour. That is the essence of this gathering,” he noted.
Umeh expressed satisfaction with the success of the event, describing it as peaceful, well-attended, and impactful.
“You can agree with me that the celebration is going on very well. This is the first edition of this programme in the diocese. As you can see around, food materials and other items are being distributed to beneficiaries to make them happy during the Christmas celebration,” he said.

He confirmed that the Christmas charity marked the maiden edition of the DAAF initiative and assured that the foundation would continue to prioritise support for the less privileged in future editions.
Delivering a Christmas message to the public, church members, and the wider community, Umeh said Christmas is a season that symbolises peace, love, joy, and happiness.
“Christ came to bring peace, love, joy, and happiness to everyone. Christmas is also a period when the less privileged are identified and cared for,” he stated.

He also prayed for the people as the year drew to a close.
“My prayer is that the Lord who has seen us through from January till now will take us into 2026. The new year shall be better than this year for us all, and joy, happiness, good health shall be our portion,” he prayed.
The event ended on a high note with entertainment, carol singing, and the distribution of food items and gifts, leaving lasting smiles on the faces of children and other beneficiaries who attended the DAAF Christmas Charity.
