Commissioner Ufoh Delivers Again — Omadino Technical College to Open Soon

The Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education, Hon. Smart Ijomah Ufoh, has said that the state is working hard to improve technical education so that all Deltans — both young and old — can benefit from it.

Hon. Ufoh said this during a meeting in his office while sharing the good things his ministry has done over the last two years under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership.

He explained that the governor’s MORE Agenda is helping the Ministry of Technical Education to grow. One of the things they recently did was to provide 2,500 chairs for technical schools across the state, so students can learn in better classrooms.

New School Almost Ready!

A new technical school in Omadino is almost completed. Before now, the school building was only halfway done. But now, it is about 90 to 95 percent complete and should be ready by September this year. The government is currently preparing to furnish the school with engineering labs, car repair workshops, sewing and fashion classes, farm tools, and furniture for classrooms and offices.

More Schools Being Worked On

Hon. Ufoh also said that Governor Oborevwori asked for work to continue on new technical schools in Irri, Kiagbodo, Oghareki, and Akugbene. Once the State Executive Council gives the go-ahead, workers will return to the sites, and these schools may start classes around the same time as the Omadino school.

Better Courses and Free Exams

To make sure students get the best learning, the ministry updated the lessons and training programs to match what employers need today. The government has also helped by paying for students’ NTC and MBT exams, which are big national exams, so parents don’t have to worry about the cost.

International Skill Program Now in Delta

Delta State now also offers the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) — a training program that helps students gain skills that are recognized internationally. This means students from Delta can one day work anywhere in the world with the skills they’ve learned.

What Students Are Making

Students in Delta technical schools are already doing amazing things! They have made:

  • Iron doors used in buildings
  • Hospital beds
  • Brick-making machines
  • Furniture
  • Food items like bread, cake, and meat pies

All of this is possible because Governor Oborevwori approved the setup of production units in all technical schools.

Final Words

Hon. Ufoh said Delta State is preparing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. “We are getting ready for a better future,” he said.
