Coming 2 America’s hilarious first trailer has arrived as an early Christmas present ahead of its 2021 release.
The long-awaited comedy sequel brings back Eddie Murphy’s King Akeem as he heads on an all-new adventure with his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) as they go back to where it all began: Queens, New York.
And the first trailer has revealed that the thing that’s bringing him back to the US is his father’s (James Earl Jones) revelation that the newly-crowned King Akeem has a son and so, despite Semmi’s objections, they set out to find him.
The trailer also gives us glimpses of all the new characters King Akeem will meet, as well as the old favourites that are returning, including Murphy and Hall’s multiple roles as Randy Watson (Murphy), Reverend Brown (Hall), Clarence (Murphy), Morris (Hall) and more.
Coming 2 America will be released on Prime Video on March 5, 2021, after its planned cinema release this December was delayed.
The comedy sequel also brings back Coming to America stars James Earl Jones, Shari Headley, John Amos, and Louie Anderson as they reprise their roles, alongside returning writers Barry W Blaustein and David Sheffield co-wrote the sequel with Kenya Barris.
They’re joined by an all-star collection of newcomers that includes Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, KiKi Layne, Tracy Morgan, Jermaine Fowler, Bella Murphy, Rotimi, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Teyana Taylor.
Coming 2 America will be released on Prime Video on March 5, 2020.
