Buhari Receives Olu Of Warri After Five Months Of Coronation

President Muhammadu Buhari, receive Tsola Emiko, the 21st Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse lll.

During the visit, the President commended the monarch for his patriotism after he led a delegation to him at the State House on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

According to Buhari in a statement issued by Femi Adesina, his spokesperson, he said “I’m grateful for your visit, and impressed by your patriotism. I’ve taken note of your requests and will work on them as soon as politically possible.”

Adesina also noted how the Olu of Warri expresses his gratitude to the president for sending a delegation to his coronation in 2021, stating that the people of Itsekiri are committed to “one united Nigeria, as they fully support his government aspiration by providing security and economic prosperity to all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, creed or religion.

Adesina said during the visit, the monarch also described the president as “a dogged patriot and fervent believer in project Nigeria.”

The spokesperson said the Olu of Warri further drew the attention of the president to what he described as the “underutilization” of some ports in Delta including Warri, Koko, Sapele, and Burutu, and also urged Buhari to reconstitute the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) board.

“As an interested party, we genuinely want a better deal for us in the Niger Delta, as we believe charity begins at home”

“By this, we mean that we Niger Deltans must be ready to put the betterment of our people first in all we do. Putting our people first is the only way to make our lives better, ” Adesina said in the statement.

He also added in the statement that the monarch requested the president to immortalize the first finance minister, Festus Okotie-Ebon.

Others who escorted the monarch on the visit included her Highness Olori Atuwatse III and some chiefs from the Kingdom – Chief Mene Brown, Chief Oma EyewuomaChief Thomas Ereyetomi, Daniel Reyeneju, Dr. (Mrs) Dere Awosika, and a notable Itsekiri Oil & Gas businessman, Mr. Julius Rone.

Goldennationblog.com gathered that the monarch and his Royal entourage also went on to visit Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo in his offices and had further meetings with him after leaving the presidency.
