Army Overpowers Kidnappers in Aniocha South, Three Dead

Otulu, Aniocha South, troops of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Asaba, have killed three suspected kidnappers during a fierce gun battle in the Otulu community, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to source, the kidnappers had abducted two persons — Mr. Igiri Samuel, a staff member of Seth Integrated Farms, and a young lady — on Friday, August 15, 2025. The victims were taken near the Oshimili North Local Government Headquarters at Akwu-Akwu Igbo.

When news of the abduction reached the Delta State Government House, the government’s tracking unit immediately swung into action. Working together with soldiers from the 63 Brigade, the team trailed the kidnappers from Atuma-Iga down to the Otulu community.

On sighting the soldiers, the kidnappers opened fire, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire. The army overpowered them and killed three of the suspects during the clash.

Items recovered from the scene include:

  • ₦2,400,000 in cash
  • 52 live rounds of ammunition
  • One AK-47 rifle
  • Several mobile phones and other valuables

However, one of the kidnap victims and a military officer sustained injuries during the battle. Both are currently receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Security operatives have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to completely rid the area of criminal activities.
