What turned out to be a “quiet” event snowballed into a carnival. The reason was clear and incontrovertible, the personae from the who is who to the not so who is who, they trooped in their mass, to felicitate with Chief Ighoyota Amori.
He in his 69-year pilgrim sojourn has come, seen, and conquered. And is still conquering.
The Odidimadi of the universe needs no introduction. Like wine that tastes sweet with age, he has become an oak tree, spreading his “wings” to accommodate the good, bad, and ugly, that mill around him for comfort, advice, support, and upbraiding, as the case may be.
Chief lghoyota Amori, a thoroughbred professional (Amodrill) and politician, consummate gentleman, father, husband, and community leader, has the clout and candor.
No wonder his Asaba residence was thronged by the be-all and all of society on his birthday, Sunday the 8th of August, 2021.
The banters, the convivial atmosphere, the backslaps, the “reconciliations”, the ambiance, not to forget the soothing music and comedy by the mc, as well as the inevitable sumptuous meals of all varieties, set the stage for the event.
Also, speaker after speaker ranging from Finance Commissioner, Fidelus Tilije, Hon Lovette Idisi, Barrister A.k Osawota, Michael “Ejele” Diden, Hon Ochoa Ochoa, Arthur Akpowowo, et al, paid glowing tributes to a man who they collectively described as a quintessential patriot and rare breed of humility.
They averred that Chief Ighoyota Amori with his unassuming legacy of “live and let live”, has remained a stabilizing rallying point in the political, social, cultural, and human sphere.
Wishing him a happy birthday, they prayed for God’s protection and grace upon the consummate politician and astute grandmaster, stating that his “river” will never run dry.
In his remarks, the elated celebrant had these words of appreciation “My 69th birthday celebration….. appreciation! appreciation!! appreciation!!!… I wish to sincerely thank and appreciate all those that made my 69th birthday celebration a huge success. The marking/celebration that took place simultaneously in my Abuja, Benin, Mosogar, and Asaba homes was electrifying. I must thank all those physically present and others that sent in goodwill messages too numerous to mention.
