Asaba, Delta State — Alhaji Abubakar Wada, a leader from Kogi State who lives in Delta State, spoke to journalists in Asaba about how Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has been doing as a leader for the past two years.
Alhaji Wada is the Chairman of the Igala Community in Delta State, the head of the Igala Muslim Association, and also the Chairman of the Motor Association in the state.
He said Governor Oborevwori has done a good job, especially in making roads better and helping with security. “When you travel between Warri, Asaba, Ughelli, and nearby places, the roads are now looking good,” he said. He praised the governor for working hard for both the Igala people and the people of Delta State.
But Alhaji Wada also said that the Igala people, who came from Kogi State and now live in Delta State, haven’t gotten any real help from the government. He said the governor has not given them political appointments or empowerment opportunities such as support for farming, trading, or business.
“Since I came to Delta State in 2010, we have supported the government,” he said. “We were with the PDP party before, and now we are with APC, but still, our people haven’t received anything.”
He also talked about Governor Oborevwori recently joining the APC political party. Alhaji Wada believes this is a good move. “Before, we were like the tail, but now we feel like the head,” he said. “Now we can speak up and be heard in Delta State and even in Abuja.”
To the Igala community, Alhaji Wada gave a message: “Let’s work with Governor Oborevwori so that he can help us. We will keep asking, and one day, by God’s grace, he will remember us. When someone cries, someone should be there to wipe away their tears.”
