Pastor Chris Okafor Misses Police Invitation as Sexual Allegations Deepen

The Lagos State Police Command is yet to question the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, after he reportedly failed to show up for a scheduled police appearance over allegations of rape and other serious offences.

Pastor Okafor was expected at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Lagos, by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, where he was to meet with the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the department. The invitation followed instructions from the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who ordered a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.

Police authorities confirmed that the cleric was formally notified to honour the invitation as part of ongoing investigations into complaints considered serious enough to threaten public peace if not addressed.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed that the command had received multiple complaints related to alleged sexual offences, which led to the invitation extended to the pastor. However, a senior officer at the SCID, who requested anonymity, confirmed on Monday that Pastor Okafor did not appear as directed.

According to the officer, detectives assigned to the case waited throughout the day to brief the Deputy Commissioner of Police but were unable to proceed due to the pastor’s absence. The police reiterated their call for individuals with relevant information or who may have been affected by the alleged incidents to report to the SCID, assuring them of full confidentiality and protection.

The allegations against Pastor Okafor first gained public attention in mid-December 2025, following the emergence of several claims on social media. Among them was an allegation by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who, in a series of Instagram videos, claimed she had a prolonged sexual relationship with the cleric beginning in 2017.

Ogala accused the pastor of making repeated but unfulfilled promises of marriage, sharing explicit content, and playing a role in the collapse of her previous marriage. Her claims added momentum to the growing public scrutiny surrounding the cleric.

The situation has since generated debate within religious and public circles, with reports suggesting that the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria may consider taking disciplinary steps. It was also reported that Pastor Okafor has stepped aside from active pastoral duties while investigations into the allegations continue.
