Tinubu Orders Security Chiefs to Hunt Down Kasuwan Daji Attackers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered Nigeria’s security chiefs to immediately hunt down and arrest the terrorists responsible for the deadly attack on Kasuwan Daji market in Niger State.

In a statement released on Sunday, January 4, 2026, via his official X (formerly Twitter) page, the President said the perpetrators of the attack must be brought to justice without delay.

Tinubu said he had directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to track down the attackers and ensure they face the full weight of the law.

“These terrorists have tested the resolve of our country and its people,” the President said. “They must face the full consequences of their criminal actions. No matter who they are or what their intent is, they must be hunted down.”

The President also warned that anyone found aiding, abetting, or enabling the terrorists would be equally prosecuted, stressing that there would be no haven for those involved in acts of terror.

In addition to pursuing the attackers, Tinubu ordered the urgent rescue of all abducted victims taken during the Kasuwan Daji attack.

He further directed security agencies to intensify operations around vulnerable communities, particularly areas close to forests, to prevent further attacks and protect lives and property.

Calling for national unity, the President urged Nigerians to stand together in confronting insecurity, describing the attackers as “monsters” who must be collectively defeated.

“These times demand our humanity,” he said. “We must stand together as one people and confront these monsters in unison. United, we can and must defeat them and deny them any sanctuary.”

The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring peace in affected communities and ensuring residents can live without fear.

“We must reclaim peace for these attacked communities,” Tinubu said.

He also offered condolences to the families of those killed in the attack, praying for the peaceful repose of the victims.

“May the souls of the departed rest in peace,” the President added.

The Kasuwan Daji market attack in Demo community, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, left over 30 people dead, with several others abducted, prompting widespread condemnation and renewed calls for stronger security measures across the country.
