The Delta State Government has announced plans to host the Delta Tech Week 2025, a major technology event designed to promote innovation, job creation, and digital development across the state.
The event, themed “Building Delta’s Digital Future,” will take place in the first week of December 2025 in Asaba, featuring exhibitions, hackathons, summits, awards, and a job fair for tech enthusiasts, developers, and young innovators.
Speaking during a press conference in Asaba on Monday, October 6, 2025, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hon. (Dr) Odinigwe Daniel Odigie, said the event was created to bring together people doing great things in technology who are yet to be recognized.

“We have a lot of talented young people in Delta who are building amazing things. Delta Tech Week will give them a platform to showcase their skills and connect with opportunities,” he said.
Dr. Odigie explained that the program, approved by the state government, will run for five days, featuring activities such as a Hackathon, Delta Tech Experience, Delta Tech Ecosystem Summit & Awards, Women in Tech 4.0 Summit, and DevFest, a developers’ conference powered by Google Developer Groups (GDG).
“This event will not just be about talking — it will be about creating real impact. We want to put Delta State on Nigeria’s technology map,” the commissioner added.
Young People to Build Real Solutions
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Ighoyota Rocky, said the goal of Delta Tech Week is to give young people the chance to solve real problems using technology.

“Participants will work in teams to create tech solutions for challenges affecting Delta State. They will also have the opportunity to showcase their work to investors and the public,” Rocky said.
He added that the best teams will win awards for creating useful innovations that can help the state grow.
Delta Tech Experience: A Fair for Innovators
Mrs. Chukwurah Nkechi, Director of Science and Technology, described the Delta Tech Experience as a fair for tech innovators.

“It’s like a trade fair — booths will be provided for inventors and innovators to display their work. We already have people developing solutions that can solve local problems,” she said.
The exhibition will take place on the second day of the event at The Marque, Asaba, and will allow participants to meet inventors, explore innovations, and experience new ideas firsthand.
Private Sector Praises Government Support
Mr. Charles Omordia, CEO of SchoolVille, praised the Delta State Government for supporting the state’s technology ecosystem.

“For a long time, we’ve been pushing for this kind of opportunity, and I must commend the Commissioner for making it happen,” Omordia said.
He revealed that this year’s edition will also focus on how technology can improve the oil and gas industry and promote green mobility.
“We want to see how much technology can help in gas processing, electric vehicle development, and industrial growth. There will be exhibitions of new products and services,” he added.
Summit to Focus on Growing Delta’s Economy
Paul Okoro, Founder and CEO of Waffi Hub and Convener of the Delta Tech Ecosystem Summit & Awards, said the summit will highlight how technology can drive economic transformation.

“The theme of our summit is ‘Reimagining Delta: A $100 Billion Economy Powered by Technology.’ Delta’s economy is about $15 billion now, but we can grow it to $100 billion in the next 20 years through innovation,” Okoro said.
He added that the summit will bring together over 2,000 entrepreneurs, developers, and business leaders, with keynote speakers including a co-founder of Andela and Flutterwave, two of Africa’s most successful tech companies.
“We are also working to raise a $5 million investment fund to support startups in Delta. That way, our young innovators can build locally instead of moving away,” he said.
Empowering Women Through Technology
Cynthia Orife, CEO of Coriftech and Convener of the Women in Tech Summit, said this year’s event will focus on helping women use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for business growth and innovation.

“The theme is ‘AI for Impact: Empowering African Women for Global Innovation.’ We want to teach women how to use AI to improve their businesses and build tech-driven careers,” she said.
She explained that the summit will include training sessions, keynote speeches, and grants for businesswomen to support their ideas and promote collaboration.
“We are using this platform to build more tech leaders. It will bring women together to showcase their potential and prove that women in Delta State are ready to thrive,” Orife added.
Job Fair to Connect Over 2,000 Talents
Utomi Chika Jeremiah, Secretary-General of Delta Tech Week and Coordinator of the Job Fair, said the fair will help connect unemployed tech talents with companies looking to hire.

“We noticed that despite all the training programs and innovation events, many tech talents are still unemployed. The Job Fair will connect them directly to employers,” he said.
Jeremiah said the goal is to connect at least 2,000 young people to job opportunities during and after the event.
“You can get interviewed on the spot or even get hired during the event. The idea is that if you come unemployed, you leave employed,” he added.
The Job Fair will run across Days 1–4, featuring on-the-spot interviews and instant hirings.
Developers Festival to Wrap Up the Week
Awele Idemembu, Lead, Google Developer Group (GDG) Asaba, said DeltaFest, the final event of the week, will connect developers with global innovation opportunities.

“DeltaFest is part of the world’s largest developer conference hosted by Google groups. This year’s theme is ‘Safe, Secure, and Scalable Solutions with AI and Cloud,’” she said.
Idemembu said the event will allow developers to network, learn new skills, and collaborate on real-world projects.
“We’re inviting everyone interested in technology — whether you’re a beginner or expert — to come, learn, and connect,” she added.
