On Saturday morning, a fuel tanker exploded at Dikko Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Niger State, causing a terrible accident that killed many people and injured others.
The explosion happened around 10 a.m. People nearby had gathered to collect fuel that was spilling from the tanker when it suddenly burst into flames. This made the situation even worse, leading to more deaths and injuries.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer in charge, Mr. Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed the incident. However, he said they are still trying to find out exactly how many people died.
Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger State expressed sadness about the explosion. Through his spokesperson, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor said he is worried about how often these kinds of accidents happen.
