Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has officially declared Burna Boy as the country’s top artist at the moment.
The “African Queen” crooner made the bold statement on Urban Radio, Enugu, during an interview on Thursday, where he spoke about the next generation of Nigerian music stars and what it takes to become a lasting legend.
“For me, on a personal level, Burna Boy is my number one. Right now. Absolutely,” 2Baba said with confidence. “Among all the others, he’s the senior of his generation.”
While acknowledging that he still has love for many other artists, 2Baba stressed that Burna Boy holds a special spot for him.
The music veteran also praised Nigeria’s endless stream of talent, mentioning Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Asake, Omah Lay, Rema, Adekunle Gold, and Olamide among others.
“You see my problem? It just keeps going on and on. We have so many superstars from one country. Yo! That’s my dilemma,” he explained.
Speaking further, 2Baba noted that every Nigerian artist has their own path to success—some push through hard work, some focus on commercial sounds, while others stick to raw, original talent.
“And all of them are at the top,” he added.
With this powerful endorsement, 2Baba has once again fueled the conversation about who truly leads Nigeria’s Afrobeats scene. But for him, the answer is clear—Burna Boy is number one.
