The Delta State Police Command has announced that the ban on fireworks is still in force during this yuletide season.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, in a statement titled “Ban on fireworks still in force Yuletide” on Thursday, December 9, 2021, in Asaba, the state capital.
According to DSP Edafe, he noted that the commissioner of police Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, FCIA, PSC(+) has said the ban on the use of fireworks is still in force and the command will enforce all the extant laws prohibiting the use of fireworks which includes ‘knock-out’, ‘banger’ and others, especially during this yuletide season.
He also noted that Parents/Guardians are advised to guide their children and wards to desist from using them. Retailers of such goods are equally warned to withdraw from the sales of these products as anyone arrested will be prosecuted.
The PPRO said that the CP has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police officers, and Tactical Commanders to ensure strict compliance with the ban on fireworks in their respective Areas of Responsibility. Undercover Police Operatives have also been deployed to arrest anyone found wanting.
Again, the police spokesperson added that the CP while assuring residents of their safety at all times also calls on residents to continue to partner with the Police and other security agencies by providing useful information in their untiring efforts at providing a peaceful and secured environment for them all.
