A tragic incident unfolded this morning in the Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki area of Lagos, as a man was reportedly stabbed to death by a sex worker in his home. The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident, which occurred around 5:30 a.m. today.
The victim, a 48-year-old man identified as Okafor, had reportedly brought the woman, named Joy Kelvin, to his house the previous night. Things took a deadly turn when she allegedly stabbed him during the early hours of the morning.
At around 7 a.m., a friend of the deceased reported the incident to the Ilasan Police Division, prompting a quick response from law enforcement. According to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, detectives were dispatched to the scene, where they took photographs and moved the body to the morgue for autopsy.
In a statement, Hundeyin detailed, “At approximately 07:20 a.m., a complainant arrived at the Ilasan Police Division and reported that his friend, Okafor, had been stabbed in his home at Jakande Housing Estate by a female prostitute, Joy Kelvin, whom he had brought home the previous night. The victim was taken to the General Hospital, Marina, where he was declared dead by the attending doctor.”
The police have since arrested Joy Kelvin, and investigations are ongoing as authorities work to notify the victim’s family.
The case has left residents in shock, and the police are determined to uncover the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
