The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) has claimed responsibility for the attack on the facility of Kuje prison that occurred on Tuesday night in Abuja.
A 38-second video that surfaced online on Wednesday, shows how some of the men of the terrorist group forced their way inside the facility and started shooting sporadically.
Also in the video, it was gathered that tens of fighters were seen parading in groups and firing while a facility and vehicles were on fire.
The video also shows an elderly man wearing native attire who is among the young fighters screaming on top of their voices.
The video was released by the Islamic State A’maq Agency with the caption “Fighters of Islamic State attacked Kuje prison in Abuja yesterday and succeeded in freeing dozens of prisoners.” The words were written in Arabic.

On Tuesday, July 5, 2022, Terrorists broke into the facility located in the Kuje area at midnight, throwing explosive devices and shooting at the prison guards before releasing over 800 prisoners including some Boko Haram suspects.
