Afrobeat singer, Anthony Victor, better known as Victony, said his ghastly accident two years ago has thought him a lesson and it was indeed a blessing in disguise.
The singer said this during a recent interview with the Tee with Tay podcast.
According to him, the accident helped him to slow down and gain a deeper understanding of what is truly important in life.
Victony said, “The accident was a blessing in disguise because it’s teaching me a lot, I’m still learning from that experience.”
“You know, it kind of like just slowed me down and just made me understand that certain things were really important in life,” he said.
In April 2021, the 22-year-old was involved in a ghastly accident that left one dead and three injured.
Recounting the experience, Victony said he remembers exiting the club and heading home with his friend, he fell asleep in the car and woke up in the hospital four days later.
He said, “We just left the club, on our way back, I slept off. I was tired. That was like my first time outside up to that time. So, I slept off.
“When I woke up, I was in the hospital with my dad. I was like ‘What’s happening?’. Because my parents didn’t know I was in Lagos. So, I was like ‘Why is my dad here?’ And he told me I was out for like 3 or 4 days.”
Victony said when he came back from a coma, he was told that another car hit their vehicle from the back.
“I heard that the impact was from the back like another car hit us. The driver and the other guy at the front were totally fine.
“We were two at the back, two at the front. So, the one beside me [at the back] died while I broke my legs.”
Thereafter, he went through his first surgery in the same year.
In February, the Soweto crooner announced he will be taking a two-month break from music after undergoing his third and final surgery.
Victony rose to fame over two years ago after he collaborated with Mayorkun for ‘Holy Father’.
Despite being a new artiste in the Nigeria music scene, he has also received several recognition.
He was once nominated at the Headies and the All Africa Music Awards.
He is currently signed to Mainland Block Party, a record label owned by Tobi Mohammed.
