US Court To Sentence Hushpuppi On Valentine’s Day

The Attorney General’s office at the Central District of California, United States, has said, Ramon Igbalode Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, the confessed International fraudster will be sentenced on Valentine’s Day.

The court director of media relations, Thom Mrozek, alleged that Hushpuppi’s case is about to come to an end.

BBC also Pidgin reported that the court has planned to sentence him on February 14, 2022.

According to BBC Pidgin, the court’s spokesperson did not give any further information on the time of his trial and sentencing.

Recall in June 2020, Hushpuppi who is well known for his flamboyant lifestyle was arrested in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) together with 11 of his associates over allegations bordering on hacking, impersonation, banking fraud, identity theft, scamming, Business email compromise.

He was later extradited to the United States after the UAE police reported his arrests in a special operation dubbed ‘Fox Hunt 2’ where he was indicted of defrauding 1.9 million victims to the tune of N168 billion.

However, the socialite had pleaded not guilty to four court charges. But an expert says he might serve up to 20 years imprisonment if found guilty of the accusation leveled against him.

In 2021, he also made the news after claiming to have bribed a deputy commissioner of police (DCP) in Nigeria, Abba Kyari, to arrest one of his associates and rival known as Chibuzo.

Although Kyari dismissed the allegation, an investigation by the FBI claimed the detective co-operated with Hushpuppi to foster the arrest of Chibuzo.
