The newly sworn-in executive chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. Barr Promise Ajede, has pledged to meet the accountability standards set by Governor Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
In a recent press briefing following his inauguration ceremony in Asaba, Ajede assured reporters that he would provide a progress report soon.
Ajede emphasized that his administration quickly assembled a dedicated team to start work promptly. He expressed readiness to begin immediate action benefiting the people of Ukwuani as he resumes office tomorrow.
Outlining his plans, Ajede referred to Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda as his administration’s guiding principle. Ensuring security is a priority, focusing on enabling farmers to safely access their farms and improving community safety by addressing criminal activities. Additionally, Ajede pledged to establish rehabilitation programs for those willing to turn away from crime.
Recognizing the importance of agriculture in Ukwuani, where most residents are farmers, Ajede intends to use the DSIEC Ward structure to provide support at different levels. By leveraging existing government structures, he aims to effectively assist farmers with necessary resources for agricultural development.
Ajede highlighted the need to empower youth for national progress. He plans to create opportunities and establish a succession plan, ensuring capable youths are groomed and given leadership roles in the local government.
Women’s empowerment is another priority for Ajede’s administration. He emphasized aligning his administration’s goals with the people’s desires. To achieve this, he intends to hold town hall meetings, directly engaging with the community to understand their needs and incorporate them into his policies. Through this approach, he aims to deliver tangible results swiftly.
Confident in his team’s capabilities and dedication, Ajede assured the public they would remain steadfast in their pursuit of progress for Ukwuani Local Government.
