Volodymyr Zelenskiy, the Ukrainian president has said he had signed an official request for Ukraine to join the European Union.
The Ukrainian Press Service/Handout made this known to Reuters on Monday, February 28, 2022, in Kyiv, Ukraine.
During the signing, the president asked the European Union to allow Ukraine to gain membership immediately under a special protocol as it defends itself from invasion by Russian forces.
The signing was witnessed by the Prime Minister, Denys Shmygal, and Parliament Speaker, Ruslan Stefanchuk.
