Donald Trump has officially started his second term as President of the United States. The swearing-in ceremony took place indoors at the US Capitol building because of freezing weather—something that hasn’t happened in 40 years. Instead of a big outdoor parade, there was an event held in a downtown arena.
In his speech, President Trump talked about making America stronger and safer. He said that the government has lost the trust of the people and promised to fix that. Trump also said he plans to protect the country’s independence and bring back fairness in the justice system. He promised to give people more freedom, wealth, and faith in their government.
Trump announced that he will sign many new orders right away. These are the first steps in his plan to make big changes, which he calls the “restoration of America.”
Important people, like billionaires Mark Zuckerberg (the founder of Facebook), Jeff Bezos (who owns Amazon), and Elon Musk (the world’s richest man), attended the ceremony. Musk is expected to help Trump with ideas to save money and reduce government spending.
Vice President JD Vance was also sworn in at the ceremony, using a special Bible passed down from his family. President Trump used two Bibles: one from his family and one that belonged to Abraham Lincoln, a famous president from American history.
Even though the event was smaller than usual because of the cold, many Trump supporters came to Washington, DC, to show their excitement. They watched the ceremony from other places in the city.
Trump ended his speech by saying that America’s hard times are over and that the country is entering a new and better chapter.
