Top Delta Politicians Unite to Honour Ochuko Omorere at Foster Mother’s Burial

The quiet community of Ovwodokpokpo-Ogor in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State came alive on Friday, October 24, 2025, as political figures, friends, and well-wishers gathered to honour Comrade Ochuko Omorere, JP, during the burial ceremony of his foster mother, Late Mrs. Grace Eserophe Omorere (née Ogode).

The atmosphere was filled with emotions, tributes, and celebration as people from across Delta Central Senatorial District and beyond converged to pay their last respects to a woman described as kind, God-fearing, and dedicated to service.

The late Mrs. Grace Eserophe Omorere, who passed away at the age of 71, was laid to rest after a funeral service attended by the Women’s Guild of the Anglican Communion, Ughelli Diocese, who sang hymns and offered prayers in her honour. The ceremony was a blend of solemn reflection and thanksgiving for a life that touched many.

Comrade Ochuko Omorere, JP, who serves as the General Secretary of Ughelli North, South, and Udu Federal Constituency Youths for Sheriff Oborevwori (U3), has long been known as a committed political figure and a strong supporter of the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

A close political associate and former personal assistant to the late Hon. Taleb Tebite, Comrade Omorere once served as Secretary of the PDP in Effurun-Otor Ward, Ughelli South LGA, before the state’s political realignment that saw many defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The funeral drew a notable crowd of Delta’s political elite and community leaders, reflecting the respect and goodwill Comrade Omorere commands across party lines.

  • Chief Vincent Oduaran, Executive Assistant (Political) to the Delta State Governor

  • Comrade Ofomukoro Lucky, Senior Special Assistant (Political) to the Governor
  • Olorogun Alfred Bialeke, Hon. Julius Atiku, Mr. David Ogbeni, Chief Hope Ejiro, Prince Ejogbamu Kenneth Ogbon, and CSP Austin Duru, Divisional Police Officer, ‘A’ Division, Ughelli.

Also present were community leaders, youth representatives, and family friends, who all came to show solidarity and celebrate the memory of the late matriarch.

In his tribute, Comrade Ochuko Omorere, JP, described his late foster mother as “a woman of great strength, love, and discipline”, whose influence shaped his moral and spiritual life.

“She raised me with compassion and wisdom. Her passing is painful, but I take solace in knowing she lived a fulfilling life and left behind a legacy of faith, humility, and kindness,” he said.

The late Mrs. Grace Eserophe Omorere is survived by one son and other relatives. She was married to the biological father of Comrade Ochuko Omorere of Okpare-Olomu, leaving behind a lasting memory in the hearts of those who knew her.
