Terrorists bomb Kaduna-Abuja train with over 1000 passengers onboard

A train conveying over 1000 passengers has been attacked by bandits on the Kaduna-Abuja track.

The incident happened around 8 pm on Monday along Katari to Rigasa train station in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

This happened two days after gunmen invaded Kaduna International Airport, killing aviation workers and leaving many others injured.

An eyewitness who also happens to be a passenger on the train said on Twitter that the bandits bombed the train track with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) which forced the train to derail.

He said upon the blockage of the train, the bandits began to fire gunshots sporadically.

He also said that the bandits later forced their way into the train and kidnapped an unspecified number of people, with some others feared killed.

Meanwhile, troops have been mobilized to the scene of the attack to rescue the remaining passengers.

Confirming the incident, Fidget Okhiria, MD of Nigerian Railway Corporation said efforts are underway to obtain further information about it.
