Terror Attack on CAC Church in Eruku, Kwara State Leaves 3 Dead, Several Abducted

Eruku, Kwara State – November 18, 2025: Panic and grief swept through Eruku town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday evening after terrorists attacked a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the church pastor.

According to sources who spoke to SaharaReporters, the assailants stormed the church during a meeting, immediately opening fire and sending worshippers running for cover. Three members were killed on the spot, while others were seized and taken into nearby bushes.

“The gunmen came in suddenly and started shooting. Three people were killed instantly,” one witness said. “They gathered others at gunpoint and marched them into the bush. We still don’t know the exact number taken.”

The attackers reportedly fled through bush paths connecting Eruku to neighbouring communities, leaving residents in fear and confusion.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident, noting that it occurred around 6:00 pm. In a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Eruku and his team, working alongside local vigilantes, responded swiftly to gunfire on the outskirts of the town, forcing the assailants to flee.

The statement said:
“The Kwara State Police Command confirms an attempted bandit attack in Eruku, which occurred at about 18:00 hours today, 18th November 2025. The DPO Eruku and his team of police operatives, in collaboration with vigilantes, swiftly responded to the sound of gunshots, prompting the hoodlums to flee into the bush. Upon thorough search of the area, one male victim, Mr Aderemi, was discovered fatally shot inside the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun. In contrast, another victim, Mr Tunde Asaba Ajayi, was found dead in the bush. A vigilante, Segun Alaja, sustained gunshot injuries and was immediately rushed to ECWA Hospital, Eruku, for medical treatment. CP Adekimi Ojo commended the swift response of the police and vigilantes and assured the public that security agencies will not relent until these hoodlums are totally apprehended. Further updates will be provided as investigations progress.”

Residents have been left shaken, with many calling for increased security in the area to prevent future attacks.
