Nigerian singer Tems just won a huge award at the 2025 Grammy Awards! She took home the prize for “Best African Music Performance” for her hit song “Love Me JeJe.” The Grammys are one of the biggest music awards in the world, where the best artists are celebrated for their amazing work. This year, the event was held in Los Angeles, USA, at the Crypto.com Arena.
Tems had some tough competition from other famous Nigerian artists like Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Davido, Lojay, and Burna Boy. But in the end, she came out on top and was super excited about her win!
When she went on stage to accept her award, Tems said:
“Wow, dear God. Thank you so much for putting me on this stage and giving me such an amazing team. Tomorrow is my mom’s birthday, and this is her first time at the Grammys. Thank you, Mom, for everything you’ve done for me and my brother. Happy birthday!”
She also thanked her team, saying:
“Thank you, Muyiwa, Wale, my stylist, and my lovely girls. I love you guys!”
Even though Tems won this award, she didn’t win in the other two categories she was nominated for:
- Best R&B Song (she lost to American singer SZA)
- Best Global Music Album (her album “Born In The Wild” lost to Matt B’s “Alkebulan II”)
But here’s the cool part: this isn’t Tems’ first Grammy win! Back in 2023, she won her very first Grammy for the song “Wait for U” with American rappers Future and Drake.
Tems is making Nigeria proud with her incredible music and talent. Keep shining, Tems!
