Following recent explosion of fuel-laden tanker at the border between Ologbo in Edo and Oghara, near Koko Junction in Delta State along the Benin/Sapele Express Way, concerned Nigerians have called on the federal government to work on bad roads.
Speaking with newsmen, eye witnesses in the area associated the avoidable road mishaps to the poor state of road across the country, explaining that the tanker explosion that took the lives of scores of persons and left others badly injured could have been avoided if the affected road was in good condition.
Explaining the ugly incident, they revealed that the tanker driver tried to avoid a bad spot when he missed track and fell which resulted to explosion.
They however called on the federal government to do something urgently about the terrible state of road to avoid more occurrence.
Responding, an eye witness, Esteem Akpevwe said it was a great loss at the scene of the accidents stressing that many lost their lives, some burnt beyond recognition while others sustained severe injuries.
Chris Efe also observed that the federal government should work on the affected road, asserting that the said road was a federal government road and had been in bad shape for too long. He said ” an accident also happened along that area not quite long claiming about two lives”.
